Paola Mardo is the host, writer, creator, and producer of Long Distance, a podcast about stories in the Filipino diaspora.

The show is an inaugural member of the Google Podcasts creator program with PRX and has been featured on NBC News, Apple Podcasts’ New and Noteworthy, Spotify Podcasts, Bello Collective’s 100 Outstanding Podcasts of 2018, and more.

As a podcast host and producer, Paola produces radio and podcast stories for shows like KCRW’s Good FoodPRI’s The World, and Offshore. She produces and consults on podcast projects for clients including KCRW, Lantigua Williams & Co., Stitcher, Western Sound, and Wondery.

Paola has worked in public radio at Los Angeles NPR station KPCC and in the film industry at Sony Pictures and Annapurna Pictures. She has spoken at events about her experiences as a podcast producer and as an independent creator and entrepreneur. She hosts podcasts, panels, and events, and leads workshops about podcasting and storytelling.

Work With Long Distance


Paola Mardo and Patrick Epino make up the Long Distance team.

Patrick Epino is the producer, video director, and voice actor on Long Distance. He produces all visual materials for the show including Long Distance TV.

Patrick is a director, producer, and actor, and the executive producer of National Film Society, a creative media studio whose clients include IMDb and PBS. National Film Society is also a YouTube channel with over 12k subscribers. It was an original member of PBS Digital Studios and is home to Long Distance TV. More about Patrick’s work here.

Paola and Patrick have worked with podcast, film, and digital brands to produce creative, thoughtful, and engaging multi-platform content.

They have participated in panels, guested on podcasts and entertainment shows, taught classes and workshops, and performed stories (including a Long Distance one!) and other fun things in front of live audiences.
